Individual differences in training predict how well dairy cows adjust to automatic milking

Research investigating the effectiveness of positive reinforcement training (PRT) in helping dairy cows transition to automatic milking systems (AMS). Using mixed-effects models in R, analyzed how individual variability in training performance predicts post-transition AMS usage patterns and adaptation success.

Spatial Assessment of Upstream Runoff Retention & Downstream Flood Exposure in the Lower Fraser

Geospatial analysis mapping how natural ecosystems upstream of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley reduce downstream flood risk. Adapted a national flood-attenuation model (Duarte et al., 2024) to 30 m resolution in R, estimating how much storm runoff each landscape retains, tracing that runoff downstream to the communities exposed in the floodplain, and ranking watersheds by the protection they actually deliver. Deliverables included a reproducible spatial workflow, a data package, an interactive web map, and a technical report to support regional planning.

Urban Density, Green Space, and Land Surface Temperature in Metro Vancouver

Geospatial analysis examining how the relationship between urban greenspace and land surface temperature varies across high-density versus lower-density areas in Metro Vancouver. Using Google Earth Engine and R, combined satellite imagery from ESA WorldCover, NASA VIIRS thermal sensors, and population density data to analyze the urban heat island effect and evaluate greenspace cooling effectiveness across different urban intensities.

Chilean Energy Transition

Econometric analysis of household heating choices in Chile, examining the transition from traditional firewood to modern energy sources. Used data from the CASEN surveys (2015-2022) combined with geospatial data from Hansen et al. (2013), applying methodology by Fercovic et al. (2024) to analyze the relationship between income, rural vs urban households, and heating fuel choice.

General Mills Strategic Consulting

Comprehensive strategic consulting project for the company General Mills, providing insights and recommendations across financial, environmental, social, and governance dimensions, concluding with an integrated recommendation for long-term growth and resilience.

Coffee Futures Analysis

Quantitative analysis of coffee futures markets, examining price dynamics, volatility patterns, and trading strategies. Applied time series analysis and derivatives pricing models to commodity futures data (Arabica vs Robusta).

Teaching Assistantships

Supporting undergraduate and graduate education through teaching assistant roles across courses in data science, economics, and applied biology. Responsibilities include leading tutorial sessions, grading assignments, mentoring students, and facilitating learning experiences.

Mensa Canada

Active member and Proctor for the Vancouver Chapter of Mensa Canada. Organized the Mensa Canada 2026 Annual Gathering, hosted at UBC. Engaged in community building, social events, and advocacy work focused on supporting gifted individuals. Passionate advocate for early identification of gifted children, drawing from personal experiences to promote better understanding and support systems.

UBC LFS Graduate Student Council

UBC TSC Quadball

Served as Captain and Finance Officer of the UBC Thunderbird Sports Club Quadball team. Alongside my executive team, we grew the team from just 4 members to 19, earning third place at the 2024 Canadian Quadball Western Regionals and subsequently qualifying for the 2025 National Championships in Ottawa. In my final year of tenure, we won first place in both the Western region and the university division at the 2026 National Championships as the only university team to advance into the national semi-finals, ultimately earning fourth place overall.

UBC Pre-Veterinary and Animal Welfare Club

Served as President of the UBC Pre-Veterinary and Animal Welfare (PAW) Club, leading initiatives to promote animal welfare awareness and support pre-veterinary students. Organized educational events, coordinated with the Animal Welfare Program, and chaired the 7th Annual UBC Animal Welfare Conference.

Amazon Algorithmic Arbitrage

Proof of concept test run implementing an algorithmic arbitrage strategy on Amazon. Achieved $10,000 CAD in sales over a 4-month period. Strategy focused on leveraging pricing discrepancies to generate consistent returns.

First Apartment
